YEREVAN(Armenpress) — On March 4, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Lokian introduced the new Governor of the Shirak Province, Hovsep Simonyan to the staff of the Governorate and community heads.
“The new Governor is a person who is well aware of the province and the problems facing it. There is no need to say anything more as the introduction for the new Governor, as he has been employed in the Governorate for the last 14 years. He will not face any hardships when continuing the work of the previous Governor,” Lokian said.
Speaking about the former Governor, Feliks Tsolakyan, Lokian thanked him for his work, hoping that his experience and skills will be used for the sake of the Republic.
“The Government of Armenia has changed that vision of territorial administration: if we do not strengthen our regions and communities, we cannot speak about economic development of the country. The principle of proportionate development must be applied here. It is difficult to solve large-scale problems if only Yerevan develops. Our country must move forward based on the vision of the development of regional economies. Some countries have already successfully done that. We must implement a precise strategy of development of provinces and communities,” Lokian said, adding that many officials in Yerevan are not well aware of economic opportunities of Shirak and Gyumri city, especially tourism opportunities.
Lokian once again congratulated Simonyan, wishing, first and foremost, a change in the atmosphere of the province and constructive collaboration with community heads and members of parliament representing the Province.
The change is conducted within the framework the cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the ARF.
