STEPANAKERT—Presidents of Armenia and Artsakh, Armen Sarkissian and Bako Sahakian met on Monday and discussed ways to advance cooperation between the two Armenian republics. President Sarkissian arrived in Artsakh on Sunday accompanied by First Lady, Nune Sarkissian.
Following the meeting the two presidents together with their spouses toured the central streets of Stepanakert and visited Shushi.
President Sarkissian told reporters at Shushi’s museum of fine arts that he has discussed wide range of issues with his Artsakh counterpart.
“We talked about the domestic situation in Artsakh, the conditions on the border, as well as a number of other issues. We also touched upon the future activity of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. No one can underestimate the efforts of this structure during all these years,” Sarkissian told reporters.
“We anticipate that the Fund will continue not only to operating well, but also ensure the highest quality in its programs. I, as the chairman of the Fund’s Board of Trustees, will do everything possible for the organization to develop programs led by the new executive director which will contribute to elevate the goals and mission of the Fund, which in turn will lead to recovering the activity which has been stopped for several months,” said Sakissian.
“Every time I visit Artsakh I discover it in a new way. In a sense, I come home. This time I visited with my wife and participated in the Harvest festival organized at [Stepanakert’s Revival square,” said President Sarkissian referring to the festivities of Harvest Day, which took place on Sunday.
“After visiting Shushi’s museum of fine arts, which has amassed a collection of very important art in a short period of time, that represent the works of different painters, I would like to state that this structure is an architectural wonder, with it’s classic music concerts welcoming art lovers,” added Sarkissian.
