GLENDALE—The YMCA of Glendale held its inaugural fundraising gala on November 5 to celebrate the completion of Phase I of ongoing construction — a remodel that is transforming the Y into a contemporary, state-of-the-art, showcase facility — as well as the organization’s transformational impact on the health and well-being of not only its membership but the overall community over the past 96 years.
The elegant evening, emceed by MundoMax news anchor Palmira Perez Najarian, raised approximately $30,000 and was attended by 300 of Glendale’s city, community and business leaders. The night’s theme was A Night of Stories: Celebrating 96 Years of Building Community … And a Foundation for the Future.
Highlighting the dinner event in the Y’s gymnasium – which was staged and decorated to create a magical, chandelier-lit setting for this celebratory evening – was a Broadway review with live music, followed by dancing.
As part of the celebration of the Glendale Y’s accomplishments over the past 96 years, four awards were presented to long-time supporters of the non-profit organization: Don Galleher, who received the Spirit Award; the Bussjaeger Family and the Gregg Bussjaeger Foundation with the Champion Award; the City of Glendale with the Partnership Award, which was accepted by Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian; and Ara Kalfayan, chairman of the board of directors of the YMCA of Glendale, who received the Leadership Award.
