GLENDALE—Jacob Armen, internationally-acclaimed drum prodigy, multi-instrumentalist and drummer for Prince, has announced his return with a live concert extravaganza marking the long-awaited release of his album “When Drums Conduct.” Jacob Armen Live: A Celebration of Rhythm is set to take place on Saturday, September 8, on Jacob’s hometown stage at the Alex Theatre in Glendale.

“When Drums Conduct” cuts across multiple genres including rock, jazz, world and classical. The album features multiple Grammy Award-winning artists and collaborations with some of the industry’s finest, such as System of a Down’s Daron Malakian, Poncho Sanchez, Victor Wooten, Djivan Gasparyan, Patrick Moraz, the Lark Choir and the USC Trojan Marching Band. The full lineup of musicians performing in the show will be announced in the weeks leading up to the concert.

Proclaimed the “most frightening drummer [he has] ever heard” by Prince, Jacob Armen astounded the world with his awe-inspiring talent during an appearance on The Tonight Show when he was just seven years old. He began playing the drums professionally at only 18 months and, soon after, launched a career performing around the globe and at major events in Los Angeles, including the Playboy Jazz Festival.

After receiving international press coverage and captivating audiences through a number of television appearances, including ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today,” Jacob was signed by Prince to his record label, Paisley Park/NPG Records, at the age of 10. With over 30 million views on the web and his unstoppable talent, Jacob is hailed as one of the greatest drummers in the world.

“God must have been in a good mood to create you,” Prince said about Armen.

“When it comes to drummer Jacob Armen, wunderkind is an understatement,” the Los Angeles Times wrote.

Tickets for Jacob Armen Live: A Celebration of Rhythm can be found on the Alex Theatre’s website. Prices range from $25 to a $150 VIP package, which includes a $100 ticket, Meet & Greet, Limited Edition Drumsticks, and an Autographed Copy of “When Drums Conduct.” The show is presented by Jacob’s own independent label JAAB Records, in association with Glendale Arts, the non-profit management company of the Alex Theatre.
