LA CRESCENTA—Chamlian Armenian School students have truly been enjoying Spirit Week 2015. Tuesday, October 27 was Sports Day and the students received a special surprise: a visit by two players from the Harlem Globetrotters! Smooth Staples #29 and Thunder Law #34 came out to Chamlian, representing the Harlem Globetrotters in their full warm-up gear to present to the students, “The ABCs of Bullying Prevention.”
Students gathered in the gym and the players began their presentation where they shared information about themselves and the Globetrotters, played a quick listening game before diving into “The ABCs of Bullying Prevention” presentation. The Globetrotters designed the program in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV). The program focuses on Action, Bravery, and Compassion, comprising the ABCs. For the finale, the players picked a few students to join them up front to teach them some special Globetrotter ball handling moves. Chamlian’s very own Ms. Rosemary from 4A also joined the students and the players. The students enthusiastically embraced the message, enjoyed the tricks and funny moments.
The entire Chamlian family is grateful to the Harlem Globetrotters and to Mr. Artin Anderasian from Staples Center for organizing this special and surprise visit to Chamlian Armenian School.
In line with the Sports Day theme, during lunchtime, students went out to the field to a beautifully set up sports obstacle course organized by the Student Council. Chamlian thanks its Student Council for their hard work in putting the lunch time activity together. All the students had a blast!
