In 2014, the Armenian Youth Federation, in collaboration with the Armenian Cultural Foundation, launched the “We Are Gyumri” campaign focusing on raising money to renovate the youth center in Gyumri, Armenia. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to create a lasting positive impact on the youth of the region that is still struggling after the devastating 1988 earthquake.
Once renovations are complete, the youth center will house a computer lab, game room and English tutoring classes, and provide future generations with a safe environment to develop and flourish. The youth center will serve to promote and preserve our national identity, cultural programs and educational programs, and assist future generations to thrive in our Homeland. One such program that is already in place in Gyumri is AYF’s Youth Corps program.
Over the last several months, the “We Are Gyumri” Committee has been working on finalizing plans with the city of Gyumri, along with several construction agencies who have been bidding on the project. A final decision has been made and the plans for the construction have been broken down into three major phases.
Over the next three months, the current property will be cleaned up in preparation of the construction, the foundation will be reinforced, and ceilings will be repaired before the harsh winter months.
We thank our community for the constant support and look forward to updating you all in the coming months.
