TBILISI, Georgia—Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili received Armenian counterpart Karen Karapetian on Thursday to discuss development of economic cooperation.
“We are ready to deepen regional cooperation, boost trade and use the existing potential,” Kvirikashvili said, adding that Georgia attaches importance to deepening cooperation with Armenia.
In turn, Karapetian noted that their bilateral relations have entered a new stage. “Armenian-Georgian cooperation continues to develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust, which is the key to strengthened relationship. Our delegation is ready to discuss topical issues of bilateral economic cooperation, both in terms of regional development, and we will try to find new ways of bolstering cooperation,” he said.
The Prime Ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation in the trade-economic field, agriculture, transport, tourism and culture. The parties hailed the level of cooperation in the energy sector and discussed the prospective of transport and communication sector.
They attached importance to the Meghri Free Trade Zone and its prospective as a platform to increase access between Iran, Armenia and Georgia.
