STEPANAKERT—Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic serviceman Tatul Harutyunyan, born in 1997, was critically wounded by Azerbaijani fire around 6:20pm in the northern direction of the Artsakh-Azerbaijani border (Line of Contact), the Artsakh Defense Ministry reported. The incident occurred at a protection area of a military unit located in the northern direction of the Defense Army.

According to the press statement, Harutyunyan was immediately transferred to the military hospital in Yerevan.

Investigation into details of the incident has been launched by the Ministry.

On night of April 17-18, Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire 55 times along the Line of Contact, firing 640 shots with weaponry of various calibers.

The ministry reported that the adversary also fired 93 shots using sniper rifles in the southern, eastern, and northeastern directions of the border.

“Artsakh Defense Army Forces took the necessary measures to quell the Azerbaijani offensive, according to the Ministry statement.

“The Artsakh Defense Army responded through necessary measures to quell the Azerbaijani offensive and continues to protect their positions,” concluded the Ministry’s statement.
