ENCINO, California—More than 65 members of the South San Fernando Valley community gathered on Sunday, November 1 at a breakfast fundraiser hosted by the local AYF Juniors “Simon Vratsian” chapter.

Held at Dickranian Hall at the Ferrahian High School campus, attendees enjoyed delicious homemade breakfast while supporting the chapter’s upcoming Christmas Toy Drive to benefit the Providence Tarzana Hospital.

“While this event was still in the planning phase, we received tremendous encouragement and support from all over the community,” said Kami Arabian, chairman of the “Simon Vratsian” chapter.

The event attracted participation from the ARF “Rosdom” chapter, ARS “Anahid” chapter, AYF “Sardarabad” chapter and Holy Martyrs Church, as well as support from the local Trader Joe’s store, Sarkis Pastry and Vicken Catering.

“The hard work of our members, coupled with help from a committed group of volunteer parents ensured the event’s success,” said Arabian.  “We are grateful to all those who attended and supported our efforts to serve our local community.”

The breakfast raised more than one thousand dollars, which will be used to supplement the donated toys the chapter collects.

“Congratulations to the AYF Juniors are in order for a job well done,” said event supporter Kevork Karagavourian.  “It was clear that they prepared well and worked hard to organize the breakfast, but more importantly they were genuinely excited and eager to create a pleasant atmosphere for their guests.”

Those who wish to participate in the chapter’s Christmas Toy Drive are encouraged to drop off new and unwrapped toys at Ferrahian school starting on Monday, November 9.
