STEPANAKERT—The Nagorno Karabakh Republic Defense Ministry reported Saturday that Armenian soldier Karen Grigoryan, 20, was killed by Azerbaijani sniper fire at 9 p.m. local time Friday on the eastern portion of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border.
During the last week, three other Karabakh soldiers were killed by Azerbaijani gunfire.
Garik Avanesyan, 24, was killed Tuesday when Azerbaijani forces deployed a tank for the first time since the cease fire agreement went into effect in 1994. Vardan Vardanian, 21, was killed on Friday morning while 20-year-old Erik Grigoryan was killed on December 4.
Artsakh President Bako Sahakian posthumously awarded all four servicemen with a bravery medal for their “service in combat.”
