Zareh Zargaryan has been selected to join Armenia’s National Basketball team during the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) European Championship for Small Countries

GLENDALE—Zareh Zargaryan, a member of Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Western United States basketball for over 19 years, has been selected to join Armenia’s National Basketball team during the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) European Championship for Small Countries.

Zargaryan flew to Armenia to participate in a training camp at the end of May. The European Championship for Small Countries will be held in Moldova June 26 – July 3rd. Eight countries are participating in this tournament including Armenia, Ireland, Andorra, Wales, Gibraltar, Moldova, San Marino, and Malta. Armenia will compete in group B with Wales, Andorra and Moldova.

The basketball player became a member of Homenetmen Ararat at the age of eight. He has won many tournaments throughout these years, including four Navasartian 1-A division championships. For many years, he has also coached Ararat basketball teams of younger age groups. Zargaryan has also participated in three Pan Armenian Games, representing the City of Glendale and winning 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

During his college basketball career at Cal State Dominguez, Zargaryan played with single-game highs of 32 points, 12 rebounds & 10 assists during a two-year period.
