DORTMUND (Mirror.co.uk)—Manchester United’s move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan should be sealed at the weekend, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has declared.

BVB had rejected moves from United for the Armenian star, whose contract expires next summer.

The Bundesliga outfit was set to hold Mkhitaryan to the final year of his deal at the Westfalenstadion, having grown frustrated with the antics of his agent, Mino Raiola.

Mkhitaryan has been watched by a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, but it is United have made the most concerted effort to bring him to England, having already had two bids rejected by Dortmund.

But after returning with what Watzke calls a “substantially improved” offer, Dortmund are now set to cash in on the midfielder, with Watzke expecting his move to Manchester to be completed before Dortmund begin pre-season training next Monday.

“Manchester United has substantially improved their offer,” declared Watzke, speaking to Funke Mediengruppe.

“The situation has changed. There are always several aspects in such a decision. I have already contacted the appropriate people and we will weigh up all the pros and cons at the weekend. Then, the board will make a decision.

“And as we start training on Monday, we will do that on the weekend, definitely.”

Mkhitaryan will move to Old Trafford for a deal believed to total £33million, and is expected to land a £10million-a-year, four-year deal.
