YEREVAN (Armenpress)—On December 11, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian held the annual consultations of the Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of Armenia accredited in European countries and international organizations. This consultation was held at the “Armenia” center adjacent to the Embassy of Armenia to Austria.

According to “Armenpress”, Nalbandian discussed with Ambassadors the process of realization of instructions given by the President of Armenia, the implementation of tasks set before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the works carried out in 2015 and gave respective instructions on the steps to be implemented next year.

At the consultation, the participants discussed the cooperation within the framework of international organizations, the priorities of the Armenian Chairmanship at the CSTO, the cooperation with EAEU, the results of OSCE Ministerial Council in Belgrade, the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie held in Yerevan, and the recent developments in Armenia’s foreign policy.

The participants emphasized the significance of developing political dialogue with European countries and institutions, and touched upon the Embassy’s steps towards the development of inter-parliamentary ties, the expansion of decentralized cooperation, and the beginning of negotiations with the EU over the new framework document.

The Armenian Genocide Centennial was a very important subject matter during the discussion. The participants summed up the events organized and their results, and how the activities worked towards the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and prevention of new genocides and crimes against humanity. Minister Nalbandian emphasized in this context: “The recorded results oblige us to act more purposefully and consistently.”

The agenda of the meeting also included the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE MG Co-Chairs aimed at the peaceful settlement of the conflict, and the situation created in the process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement due to the provocative actions of Azerbaijan. In this regard, Minister Nalbandian noted that Azerbaijan’s escalation of the situation in recent days, in response to the statement voiced by foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries in Belgrade to reaffirm commitment to exceptionally peaceful solution of the conflict through negotiations, is a slap in the face of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries and the international community.
