LAS VEGAS—On July 20, a scholarship agreement was signed between the Nevada Consular Corps and the UNLV Foundation in support of UNLV’s “Study Abroad Program.”

The Nevada Consular Corps was formerly established in 1998, and has a membership of 24 Honorary Consuls and two Career Consul Generals.

Career Consul Generals and Honorary Consuls encourage trade, cultural and academic exchange programs between the countries they represent and the State of Nevada.

On this special occasion, it is an academic and cultural exchange program that we are celebrating. The Nevada Consular Corps have partnered with the UNLV Foundation and the UNLV Office of International Programs and established an annual two-thousand dollars ($2,000) scholarship fund. The scholarship will be gifted on an annual basis and divided between two qualifying UNLV students.

Students who are interested may contact UNLV Office of International Programs for further scholarship details or by visiting following link:

The chairperson of the Nevada Consular Corps Scholarship Committee relayed a few words on behalf of the committee:

“As the chair of the Nevada Consular Corps Scholarship Committee, I would like to thank all involved in establishing this scholarship fund, particularly, Ms. Marian Alper at the UNLV Foundation and Ms. Susan Thompson at the UNLV Office of International Programs and my fellow committee members:

Honorable Kathleen Blakely – Honorary Consul of Japan

Honorable Astra Mitchell – Honorary Consul of Lithuania

Honorable Lea Roberts – Honorary Consul of Romania and

Gayle Anderson, Founder & Chief of Protocol of Nevada Consular Corps”
