PASADENA—The Board of the Sahag Mesrob Armenian Christian School announced the appointment of Mary Tascian-Williams as principal of the school and Mary Boyadjian as the director of it pre-school.

Tascian Williams has been in the field of education for more than 20 years as administrator, vice principal, teacher, college counselor, master teacher, English department chair, and adjunct instructor at University of Phoenix.

She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Pepperdine University, two Bachelor degree in in journalism and political science from California State University, Northridge. She attended the Educational Doctorate Program at Pepperdine and completed All-but-Dissertation (ABD) in Education and Organizational Leadership but had to put her educational ambitions on hold to raise her daughter.

In addition to teaching she has held auxiliary duties as student counsel advisor, testing coordinator, newspaper advisor, and National Honors Society advisor. She has taught Advance Placement (AP) English Language, and AP English Literature, Honors English, World History, World Geography, Civics, US History, Journalism, Social Studies, and Spanish I.

Tascian-Williams is fluent in Armenian, English, Spanish and Romanian. Her language proficiency has enabled her to work in diverse communities both in private and public schools throughout Los Angeles. While principal, she will continue to teach the school’s 7th and 8th grade English classes.

Tascian-Williams served as a visitation team member on four Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), which evaluates private elementary, middle, and high schools.

She is a published author of Technology in the Classroom for the 21st Century and editor of various books.

Tascian-Williams resides in Pasadena with her husband and daughter.

Her career has been guided by a personal mantra: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” and her educational philosophy; All children are capable learners and are God’s gift to humanity.”

In addition to her duties as pre-school director at Sahag-Mesrob Boyadjian who will also teach English and mathematics to kindergarten students during the upcoming academic year.

Boyadjian has been with the SMACS family since 2002 as a dedicated first grade teacher and has contributed her time, talent, and knowledge to improving the school. Boyadjian is an Alumna of SMACS and holds a Masters degree in Education and multiple subject credentials from Azusa Pacific University. She has served on the school’s accreditation team and worked diligently to ensure that the school obtains the full accreditation from WASC and ACSI.

Boyadjian has also helped in the productions of “Christmas Around the World,” “Even Santa Knows” and “The Passion” performances in the school. She has served at Armenian Brotherhood Bible Church as a Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She has also organized numerous Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs, Sunday School camps and headed many “A Night in Bethlehem” productions. She is also the head of the Bible Department and oversees the daily chapel services. She will continue fulfilling these responsibilities in addition to the directorship at the pre-school.
