Two New Priests to Serve Western Prelacy

LA CRESCENTA—Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian and the Religious and Executive Councils announced that in response to their request, His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, has assigned two young members of the Brotherhood to serve within the Western Prelacy.

Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Ashekian and Very Rev. Fr. Barouyr Shernezian arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 14, 2016. They will begin their new assignments following a brief stay at the Prelacy. Fr. Dajad will serve as pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Fresno and Fr. Barouyr as pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in San Francisco.

Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Ashekian, baptismal name Zohrab, was born in Beirut in 1992. He was ordained into the priesthood on June 17, 2012, and received the rank of Vartabed on July 18, 2015. He has taught at the Seminary of the Holy See of Cilicia and had pastoral missions in various churches in Lebanon and Greece. He most recently served as Supervisor of the Catholicosate’s Treasury House and assistant to the Sacristan of St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral in Antelias, Lebanon.

Very Rev. Fr. Barouyr Shernezian, baptismal name Haroutioun, was born in Beirut in 1992. He was ordained into the priesthood on June 17, 2012, and received the rank of Vartabed on July 18, 2015. He has taught at the Seminary of the Holy See of Cilicia and had pastoral missions in various churches in Lebanon, Iran, and Cyprus. He most recently served as Director of the Catholicosate’s Youth Department and Curator of the “Cilicia” Musem.

The Prelacy welcomed Fr. Dajad and Fr. Barouyr to the Western Prelacy and wish them great successes in their new mission.
