ACTION ALERT: Urge Boston Mayor to Rescind Anti-Armenian Proclamation

712

This week, Mayor Marty Walsh signed a proclamation declaring February 26, 2021 as “Khojaly Commemoration Day” in Boston (see below). The mayor’s proclamation makes many one-sided statements denigrating Armenians, in reference to the first war over Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), while ignoring not only the long and complicated history of the conflict, but also whitewashing Azerbaijan’s persecution of Armenians over the last hundred years. The mayor’s proclamation is most disturbing in light of Azerbaijan’s and Turkey’s recent war on Artsakh, from September 27 to November 9, 2020, where an estimated five thousand Armenians were killed and a hundred thousand Armenians turned in (more...)

2020 Year In Review

1114

Despite the challenges we all faced in 2020, the ANCA Eastern Region was actively engaged in its mission -- advancing the policy priorities of Armenian-Americans across the Eastern United States through grassroots advocacy. We began the year with a focus on Artsakh and due to the unprovoked attacks, continued it throughout the year including state and city-level advocacy resulting in awareness and recognition of Artsakh across the region. Although we were forced to take many of our events online and re-imagine our approach due to Covid-19, we hosted several virtual events using the Facebook Live platform which allowed us to engage with our communities and many more since our boundaries we (more...)
