WARWICK, R.I. – The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Eastern Region is proud to welcome Kim Kalunian as the Master of Ceremonies for the 20th Annual ANCA Eastern Region Gala, to be held Saturday, December 5, 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island.

The Annual Gala continues to be a driving force behind the ANCA Eastern Region’s year-round work of advancing the Armenian Cause and promoting education and civic engagement across the region. This year’s Gala begins at 7:00 p.m. and includes a reception, silent auction, and awards program honoring those whose work strengthens the voice of Armenian Americans in the name of justice, accountability, and a secure future for the Armenian nation.

“We are honored to have Kim Kalunian preside over this year’s Gala,” remarked Nareg Mkrtschjan, 2026 ANCA Eastern Region Gala Committee Chairperson. “She is a prime example of what years of dedication and public service can look like, and she has put Rhode Island’s Armenian community in the spotlight with her reporting and storytelling. We look forward to welcoming her, and the entire community, to our 20th Annual Gala.”

Kim Kalunian has spent the past 15 years delivering news in her home state of Rhode Island and is currently a reporter with WPRI 12, where she previously launched and anchored the 4 p.m. newscast. Kim is also the co-host of the series “Behind the Story,” where she interviews fellow reporters about their process. Her segment “Community Focus” offers in-depth, one-on-one interviews with the biggest newsmakers in the region. Kim’s journalism has been recognized with awards and accolades including an Edward R. Murrow Award and a regional Emmy nomination.

Prior to joining WPRI, Kim served as a drive-time news anchor at News Talk 630 & 99.7 FM WPRO. Her extensive journalism background includes experience with Rhode Island Public Radio and several local publications, including the Warwick Beacon, Cranston Herald, and Johnston Sun Rise. Before pursuing a career in journalism, she performed professionally as a stage actress at venues across the East Coast. Kim is a graduate of Moses Brown School in Providence.

Kim has covered stories about Artsakh and about Armenian culture, including a feature where she dove into her own Armenian lineage. She was included in the Armenian Historical Association of Rhode Island’s documentary “Armenian Chronicles,” which explores the past, present, and future of local Armenians and details the Armenian Genocide, which her great-grandparents survived. She previously served as the moderator for a panel of Armenian female authors, and keynote speaker at Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Church in Providence, Rhode Island. She regularly attends the bazaars at St. Vartanantz as well as Sts. Sahag and Mesrob, a church her great-grandfather helped found.

The ANCA Eastern Region is proud to have Kim Kalunian serve as Master of Ceremonies at this year’s Gala. At a time when informed and organized grassroots advocacy remains indispensable, the ANCA Eastern Region Gala stands as both a celebration of the community’s accomplishments and an investment in the continued growth and effectiveness of the Armenian American advocacy movement.
