LOS ANGELES, CA—The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region (ANCA-WR) announced the extension of the application deadline for its Internship Program’s 2011 Summer Session. The program, which was recently enhanced to include focused community organizing training in addition to the public policy educational and project-based activities.
“We are looking forward to interns participate in this session and future sessions from throughout the Western Region,” said Andrew Kzirian, Chairman of the ANCA-WR Board of Directors. “Being an organization that relies on grassroots strength we see this program as an ideal training ground for our student leaders to learn more about the issues and become better community organizers in their own backyards when they return home.”
Students from outside the greater Los Angeles area who are interested in participating in the program can inquire about housing options with the ANCA-WR office. The application deadline is Friday, May 27th. Applications can be found online at www.anca.org in the “Capital Gateway” section.

As part of the program, interns will work with senior staff and with the various committees that comprise the ANCA-WR. They will be assigned short- and long-term projects as well as receive issues briefings in fields ranging from Federal and State Affairs to Community and Public Relations. They will also partake in professional development workshops including resume writing and interview skills, marketing, campus activism, and issues messaging.

Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
