LAS VEGAS, NV – The Las Vegas Armenian community, one of the fastest-growing in the nation, welcomed leaders of the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) to their city for an engaging and interactive February 24th town hall meeting on the challenges and opportunities for the Armenian Cause over the coming year.
Hosted in the newly built St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church, the Town Hall featured presentations by ANCA-WR Executive Director William Bairamian, External Affairs Deputy Tereza Yerimyan, and University of Las Vegas Professor Michelle Tusan, Ph.D. The forum allowed the ANCA to update the community on the latest initiatives and objectives of the organization, and provided an opportunity for community members to ask questions and offer suggestions about national priorities and local organizing.
“Hosting this Town Hall was truly fulfilling,” remarked ANCA-WR Executive Director William Bairamian. “We could sense that the more we discussed the successes we’ve had in recent years as well as the challenges that still face us, the more the crowd became energized. Las Vegas is home to one of the fastest growing Armenian American communities and I look forward to seeing them become an increasingly active and engaged part of the ANCA’s broad grassroots network.”
Community members shared their views on how they can be more effective on a state and national level. Attendees expressed appreciation for the work of the ANCA and left knowing more about the vital role they play in the growth of Armenian American activism in the United States.
“This Town Hall was a great opportunity to re-energize our community in Nevada and set us on the right path toward organizing our grassroots efforts,” commented ANCA Las Vegas activist Adroushan Armenian.
The ANCA Town Hall in Las Vegas is a part of a series of Town Hall meetings which will be taking place across the United States.
