Lowell, MA – The Armenian National Committee of Merrimack Valley met with staff in Representative Seth Moulton’s (D-MA(06) district office ) in Lowell, MA. ANC of Merrimack Valley Chair Ara Jeknavorian and ANC of Merrimack Valley members Ani Babaian and Stepan Dulgarian met with Rep. Moulton’s aids Morgan Bell and Kelly Bovio.

As a result of the meeting, Representative Moulton signed on to the Sherman-Cox letter in response to the Trump Administration’s attempt to shut down and defund the HALO Trust’s de-mining program that has saved countless lives across the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

“We thanked Congressman Moulton for his participation in the Armenian Caucus and his support of Armenian American legislation that is of importance to the community and gave his staff some more insight into new developments in our community,” said Jeknavorian

Babaian and Dulgarian, both constituents of Rep. Moulton, are active members of the Armenian American community in Massachusetts. Babian is the curator at the Mardigian Library, which is part of the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) in Belmont, MA, and Dulgarian is an active member of the ACAA and driving force behind the recently formed Middlesex AYF Chapter.

At the meeting, Babian spoke about the valuable resource that the NAASR plays in the community and throughout the region, and Dulgarian spoke about the thriving youth in the community.

“We have forged a strong relationship with Representative Moulton and truly appreciate his continued support and leadership on issues important to our community. We are eager to maintain our friendship with the Representative and look forward to welcoming him at our upcoming events,” said Babaian.

The delegation also encouraged Rep. Moulton to cosponsor H.Res.190, a bill supporting visits and communication between the United States and the Republic of Artsakh at all levels of civil society and government, as well as H.Res.452 which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives regarding the recent free and fair parliamentary elections and transfer of power in Armenia, reaffirming the critical importance of the United States-Armenia partnership.
