Lowell, MA – The Armenian National Committee of Merrimack Valley visited Representative Lori Trahan (D-MA(03)) this past month in Lowell, MA. As a result of the meeting, Representative Trahan signed on to the Sherman-Cox letter in response to the Trump Administration’s attempt to shut down the HALO Trust’s de-mining program that has saved countless lives across the Nagorno Karabakh and became a member of the Congressional Armenian Caucus.
At the meeting with Representative Trahan, ANC of Merrimack Valley leaders including Ara Jeknavorian, Armen Jeknavorian and Mimi Parseghian, discussed issues related to US-Armenia relations, security and stability for Artsakh, and permanent US government recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
The delegation also encouraged Representative Trahan to co-sponsor the Artsakh Travel and Communication Act (H.Res.190) and H.Res.452, which aims to improve relations between the U.S. and Armenia.
“We thanked the Congresswoman for her support of the Armenian Genocide Resolution H.Res.296 and invited her to view the Mother’s Hands monument at Lowell City Hall, which was dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the survival of the Armenian people,” said Ara Jeknavorian.
Representative Trahan, who recently led a parade to kick off the Lowell Folk Life Festival, met ANC of Merrimack Valley activists at the monument furthering her commitment to the Armenian American community in the Merrimack Valley.
